How much has to be explored and discarded before reaching the naked flesh of feeling.
~ Claude Debussy

There is a blanket of weariness that covers the city of Philadelphia. Feelings of despair and oppression are often inescapable in the city' s daily grind. As a result, the feeling that something' s got to give gives rise to artists' raw and rebellious reactions.
The Dead City Psychos have risen from the back streets of this city, with a rock n' roll sound that is genuine reaction to the societal environment that they endure. They successfully balance their raw power as a band with undeniable musical talent and integrity. Such a combination of qualities is hard to find in this era of MTV, where we often see passion and integrity taking a back seat to profit.

Eric Dead, singer/songwriter and guitarist, formally of American Punk Records, The Strychnine Babies, has consistently written music for Dead City that is undoubtedly passionate and intelligent, as well as arresting. It is as if his surroundings. It flows through his artistic endeavors, creating a raw energy not unlike the influences of his surroundings. It comes as no surprise that his musical influences had their roots in the seventies, a decade reeling with weariness and in turn, riddled with restlessness. Influences like the Dead Boys, The Damned, New York Dolls/Johnny Thunders, KISS, and Alice Cooper all came up with a means to escape or rebel, all seeming to react to the feeling that something' s got to give. Eric' s talent for writing what he lives, while at the same time creating great songs, is an art that proves timeless. By creating works with universal appeal, made apparent by a growing legion of fans of all ages and backgrounds, it is bound to succeed and endure.

Eric' s great writing however does not stand-alone. The chemistry, talents and determination of his band mates are an integral part of their success. Lead guitarist, Joe Tweets, formally of Five Magic Beans (as well as countless other projects), brings his signature playing techniques and brilliant talent to the Dead City Psychos' works. Having extremely varied tastes and influences definitely illustrates why he has such a beautifully enriched playing style. His ear for good sound, luckily for us, connects brilliantly with his playing. His solos command the attention of whoever happens to be in earshot. Quite a few of these listener/fans are often great musicians in their own right.

Ben has consistently proven to be a stronghold as a bassist for Dead city. His evolving talent and stability were put to the test in January of 2002, at their first record release party/gig, when the band announced publicly a change in drummers. After working with original drummer Rob Slappy White since the birth of the Psychos in ' 99, Ben successfully and gracefully flowed mightily through this somewhat sudden transition. With Rob pursuing other interest, Dave Glass, formerly of The Strychnine Babies and Dead Empty, was named the bands choice as his replacement. Dave Glass, with his enthusiastic energy and his focused, punk driven drumming style and talent, will no doubt find his talent as a Dead City Psycho.

Whatever changes the future brings, there are always things that remain certain. Not only does this band sound great but they will always remain an ever evolving, determined and strong willed force. The honesty and integrity that shines through in their music will never be lost in the context of such brilliant, rebellious energy. It is as if their hearts beat as loudly as the music. They would never succumb to the attempts of some to place profit over their passion.

To come across rock music of this nature nowadays requires a curios ear, open eyes, some time browsing the independent record stores or just pure luck. Currently, the music and vitality of the Dead City Psychos can be heard not only in the back streets, but also on their own self produced debut CD, Babylon.

This is their personal revolution…and now youre more than welcome to it.
