SAP GREEN
circa 1987-1991~ Camden SC

First band I played drums in SAP GREEN silly name I got from a crayon in summer school. SAPS being the uniformed working class and GREEN representing the Governments greed and power. Who knew a few years later a band by another silly name GREEN DAY would be every college kids radio friendly top 10. SAP GREEN formed between 1986 or 87? high school days, didn't play live venue shows (except parties) until a few years after forming 89-90, with only 1 band member change. Hardcore Skate punk and socio political stuff. Mostly original songs some covers from the likes of The Ramones, Sex Pistols, DOA, GBH, COC, Circle Jerks. Corrosion of Conformity, Minor Threat that I can remember. Shows played in Sumpter, Florence, Columbia South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia with bands like: Uptight, Unherd, In Humanity, Torqueman, Straight Up, Jawbreaker, Bazooka Joe, Antischism, Tonka, Ideology, Right's Reserved, Wreaking Havoc, many more cant remember all the names. We recorded some demo tapes in my garage. I'm searching for a copy to transfer and post on the site. We would tell kids in high school that might be interested in some unheard music that we were playing shows. Most of them didn't even believe that there was a music scene under their noses other then what you heard on the fuckin radio. We took a few local girls to shows In Columbia SC the closest place to us to even see bands. I remember one time one of the girls was puking physically sick by seeing more then a few punk rockers in one place and kids slam dancing scared the shit out of her. They didn't know what the fuck just hit em.

You had to have balls to be a punk rocker down south in those days. you were a target for rednecks, jocks, police, and the KKK. Anything outside the norm was totally unaccepted. We were the only ones in our town but we didn't change our ways for anyone.
A few flyers found below. Antischism, Uptight, InHumanity, and Jawbreaker were probably the most recognized bands that we played shows with. No one really knew who they were in those days.
